Born in 1953, she graduated in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Catania in 1979/80. In 1983 she started to collaborate within the "Centro di Studio sulle Colture Precoci Ortive in Sicilia" of the National Research Council. Since 1985 she operates within the Dipartimento di Scienze Agronomiche, Agrochimiche e delle Produzioni Animali of University of Catania as technician personnel.
In 2001 she became researcher of the Agrarian Faculty of the University of Catania. Since 1994 she carried out teaching in Agricultural Ecology, General Agronomy and Field Crops, Forage Crops at the University of Catania. She supported student activity for thesis compilation and stage activity. Since 1988 she has been involved within regional, national and European Projects: - Ministero dell'Agricoltura e delle Foreste (MAF): "Miglioramento quantitativo e qualitativo delle produzioni oleifere mediante interventi genetici ed agrotecnici", subproject "Colza", "Ricino" "Cotone” - CNR-COALT "Adattabilità ed avversità di colture alternative in ambiente mediterraneo" and "Introduzione in coltura e valutazione in ambiente meridionale di specie per nuove prospettive di utilizzazione" - MURST and CNR project FORTROP and NITCAR on forage crops - MURST “Sistemi foraggeri e distribuzione stagionale della produzione" and “Fisiologia della produzione e azotofissazione di leguminose foraggere in sistemi agricoli ecocompatibili in ambiente mediterraneo". - P.O.P. 94/99 Regione Siciliana “Ottimizzazione dei sistemi di produzione zootecnica nelle aree collinari e montane della Sicilia”, subproject “Miglioramento quantitativo e qualitativo delle risorse foraggere”. - University of Catania project “Caratterizzazione botanica e biologica di popolazioni di Dactylis glomerata L. reperite nel territorio della Sicilia”. - EU projects on biomass and fibre crops FAIR CT96 1913; FAIR CT96 2028; FAIR CT96 1704; FAIR CT98-3784; QLK5-CT2002-01729; QLK5-CT-2002-01363.
