Learning Objectives

The aim of the course is to provide both knowledge on the design, distribution, technological and architectural aspects of buildings aimed at processing the main agricultural products, with particular attention paid to the traditional rural buildings, and on the tailored analysis tools to evaluate the landscape, its transformation over the years and the direct connection with rural buildings and their construction materials, in order to understand the role of design and quality of building materials on production activities within their territorial area.

In detail, students will be able to:

  • know the main construction materials, their respective physical properties and their several uses based on the different construction technologies;
  • know and evaluate the main technical and constructive characteristics of traditional rural buildings;
  • know the functional layouts of agro-industrial buildings, the main functional characteristics, with particular reference to winery buildings, by paying attention to the articulation of the interior spaces according to the needs of the production process.

The course aims to contribute at promoting sustainable development and competitiveness of the food and wine sector linked to the territory.
