Learning Objectives
The course is aimed to provide insights on the main propagation methods of plants, the biological cycles and the relationships between the vegetative and the reproductive activity of the fruit trees. At the end of the course students will acquire all the information needed for the managment of tree planting both for production purpose as to landscape and for the managment of the main forestry systems.
Course Structure
The lectures will mainly take place in the classroom, some demonstrations will be carried out in the laboratory. The course includes two external technical visits.
If the teaching should be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.
Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, if the conditions should require it.
Detailed Course Content
The main topics of the course are: the morphology and physiology of woody plants, the root system, the epigeal organs and the vegetative activity. Propagation and reproduction. Soil and plant trees: soil chemicals and physical characterstics; root development. Nutrients and their functions. Cultural practices and pruning. Forestry systems. Analysis and description of the main parametersof the forest, government and type of treatment. Forest management.
